On impulse, I decided to try my luck on baking pies. I brought my Fannie Farmer's cookbook downstairs to the kitchen table where my mom sat, slapped the book on the table and announced, "I want to bake a pie tonight. Which one should I make?
"Well, Dad likes apple pies. Make that."
"Okay." And I did just that. Reading and re-reading the directions in the cookbook, I got started.
The results came as shown above. It may look pretty, but I think I want to try a different recipe out. The crust was firm and chewy in most parts and didn't even taste all that great. The apples were a consistency of almost a sauce (which tasted great), however I doubt that's how the inside of an apple pie should be like.
